Building a Life Worth Living
A riveting autobiographical memoir by Marsha Linehan, the developer of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). I was emotionally moved by how she talked about her mental struggles with such honesty and vulnerability and yet still being able to transform adversity into “getting people out of hell”. Really appreciated in the redemptive elements of her story.
It was also good to see the behind-the-scenes of how DBT came to be and its influence from Zen and Catholic philosophical traditions. If you’re looking for a personal, intimate introductory text on DBT, this is it.
