Prosocial behaviours

Behaviours that contribute to personal and societal/collective wellbeing.

They improve personal wellbeing in the sense that they act as pillars of one’s meaning and purpose; collective wellbeing in the sense that the behaviours contribute to making other people’s lives better.

Prosocial behaviours are not necessarily consequentialist or conforming to societal norms. Behaviours that promote a certain majority of people at the expense/harm of a certain minority is not prosocial. Likewise, if one is behaving in a way that conforms to a norm that is harmful to some people, that’s not prosocial either.
